The “most disasterous fire in Attalla’s history” (Fox, Dustin. “Destructive Blaze.” The Gadsden Times, 26 October 2019) ignited around noon on September 30, 2019 at Gadsden Warehousing. This company stores a variety of products, much of which is paper products to be used in the production of paper plates, in a 200,000+ square foot building. These products fed the fire encouraging it to increase and spread rapidly. A total of 117 fire departments across Etowah County, and even beyond, assisted in extinguishing the blaze over a period upwards of a week. We were one of the first construction crews to offer assistance by carving a path through the rubble to allow firefighters access to parts of the facility they previously were unable to reach. Our next task was to clean up the debris and oversee the purchase and construction of their new facility. We worked diligently with Gadsden Warehousing to rebuild their facility in a way to better accommodated their flow of work. With the new 203,000 sf building design, they are able to utilize the interior space better allowing them to store more product and easily maneuver their forklifts throughout the building. Likewise, they are now able to load their products directly onto the train from the building.
We are so thankful for the amazing groundbreaking event and all you did to make it a success! There is not a better company for this project, and we are thrilled to have your team on our side. Y'all showed up and showed out. We appreciate everyone!
