One of the largest warehouse fires in Alabama’s history ignited in a 207,000 square foot warehouse, located adjacent to Highway 77 on September 30, 2019. We were devastated upon receiving the call that announced it belonged to one of our long time customers. Gadsden Warehousing has not only been a customer but also a friend for 26 years. It is hard to watch someone close to you go through something so tragic and naturally we wanted to help in any way we could.
117 fire departments ended up sending trucks to help fight the fire; some as far away as 125 miles. We were able to assist these firemen by sending our excavator to the site and helping clear paths so the fire trucks could get further into the site to reach places they originally could not.
Firefighters were on and off the scene for 18+ days. Once the fire was maintained we were awarded the task of cleaning up the site and allowed 45 days to complete the debris removal. The video attached shows the hard 14 hour days our sub-contractors, truckers and employees put in enabling us to clean up the site in 40 days.
